AI & Society | One Year In

Over the past 12 months, AI & Society has grown into a national, place-based community exploring how artificial intelligence intersects with society, cities, work, governance and human values.

2025 at a glance:
• 39 events delivered
• 2,298 attendees
• 2,932 community members
• 95+ hours of facilitated conversation
• Events hosted across Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide

As AI & Society expanded across cities, one insight became clear: place matters.

Each city shaped the conversation differently — from technology and startups, to democracy, civil society, philosophy and values. While AI may be global, its impacts — and the conversations around it — are local.

Across workshops, roundtables, informal pub sessions and run-and-coffee clubs, AI & Society has focused on human-centred, participatory dialogue, helping communities better understand, question and engage with AI beyond the technology itself.

We extend our sincere thanks to:
• All guest speakers who shared their expertise and perspectives
• All attendees and community members who showed up with curiosity and generosity
• Our venue and ecosystem partners, including The Precinct and Stone & Chalk
• The volunteers and collaborators who supported delivery across cities

AI & Society exists to ensure the future of AI is shaped through inclusive, informed and locally grounded conversations.

We look forward to continuing this work in 2026 — together.
